Hot German Potatoes
Time: 1 hrs 30 mins
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 (7 ounce) package hungry jack creamy scalloped potatoes mix
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 3/4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
- 1 (2 ounce) jar diced pimentos, drained
Directions
- 1 Heat oven to 400 degrees, Cook Bacon until crisp.
- 2 Drain Bacon; reserve 2 tablespoons bacon drippings.
- 3 In ungreased 2 to 2 1/2 quart casserole dish, combine bacon drippings, potatoes and sauce mix.
- 4 Stir in sugar, Celery seed, pepper, milk, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce until well mixed.
- 5 Add Sauerkraut, pimento and cooked bacon; mix well.
- 6 Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
- 7 Let stand 5 minutes.
- 8 Stir.
