Cream Cheese Filling for Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemons (optional, but really gives a nice flavor!) or 1 tablespoon orange rind (optional, but really gives a nice flavor!)

Directions

  • 1 In a bowl beat all ingredients until smooth.
  • 2 Layer half of the cake batter in pan.
  • 3 Top/spoon with the cream cheese mixture, then top with remaining cake batter.
  • 4 Bake as directed.
