Oil and Vinegar Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, halved
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • mixed salad green
  • shredded red cabbage

Directions

  • 1 In a 1-quart jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the first five ingredients.
  • 2 Add water, vinegar and garlic; shake until sugar is dissolved.
  • 3 Add oil; shake well.
  • 4 Store in the refrigerator.
  • 5 Just before serving, remove garlic from the dressing. Drizzle over salad greens and red cabbage.
